HOW
TO PLAY
|
The
playing pieces in Reversi have two sides - Black and White.
One player plays as Black and the other as White. |
When it is your turn to play, you have to place a piece on the board with
your colour facing up.
This played piece must cause at least one your opponents colours to flip over to your colour to be a valid move. To flip your opponents pieces, you must place a piece so that you trap one or more of your opponents pieces between the piece you are about to place and another of your pieces already on the board. You can trap horizontally, vertically or diagonally. For example - take the following situation : |
Its
Black's turn to play. To make a valid move, Black has to trap some of
White's pieces between the piece he/she is going to play and another Black
piece already on the board. There is only one place to play :
|
The
pieces trapped between the two Black pieces get turned over. Thus we get
the outcome of the move :
|
Now
lets take a slightly more complicated situation. White is to play :
|
White
has a few different options here.
Let's choose the one that flips the most pieces : |
Remember
you can trap more that one piece in a row, and you can trap in horizontal,
vertical and diagonal directions.
This move then causes the board to become : |
If a player has no moves available to play, he/she has to Pass, and his/her opponent gets to play again.
