KeyMaestro Multimedia Keyboard Driver

Congratulations on your purchasing this multimedia keyboard. With the power management button, this keyboard can put your system power to power-saving mode. The better is, this keyboard puts you in the driver's seat with the special keys for multimedia and the Internet. Access the WWW, Search, or My Favorite at the touch of a key, control speaker volume and CD functions. Plus, save valuable mouseclicks with the dedicated Shortcut key to your most commonly used application. You'll discover your performance will be enhanced to a high level with this keyboard for multimedia and the Web.

To use these multimedia buttons, you have to install KeyMaestro multimedia keyboard driver first.

Installation

In order for the USB multimedia keyboard to function properly, first install the USB drivers and then install the KeyMaestro multimedia driver.  

Note: If all of the buttons on the keyboard work except the Multimedai buttons, the keyboard is recognized by the system and you only need to install the multimedia driver.

The USB device driver is included in Windows system.

When the first time you plug in the USB keyboard, the system will automatically detect a new hardware connected and bring up the Add New Hardware Wizard. Follow the Wizard's USB driver installation steps. Once this step is completed the basic functions of the keyboard will work under the operating system.

Before installing the KeyMaestro Multimedia Keyboard Driver, you have to make sure that the USB device driver has been installed and the USB keyboard is recognized by Windows operating system. You may toggle the NumLock or CapsLock key to see if the LED is lit correspondently, and thus to know the keyboard works well.

Then you may refer to the following steps to install the multimedia keyboard driver.

  1. Insert the disk labeled 'KeyMaestro Multimedia Keyboard Driver' into your disk drive.
  2. Open File Explorer to find 'Setup.exe' from the disk.
  3. Double-click the 'Setup.exe'.
  4. Then follow the screen instruction to install the driver. The default install path is set to c:\KMaestro. You have the option to change the install path during setup.
  5. Setup will indicate when it has successfully completed. The driver is loaded when you see the driver icon in the system tray (lower right corner of the screen). The operating system does not need to restart.

Uninstallation

Please note that you have to uninstall the driver first if you want to re-install the driver. This uninstallation only can remove the KeyMaestro multimedia keyboard driver from your system, not removing USB device driver and other hardware drivers.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Move cursor to Program in Start menu.
  3. Move cursor again to KeyMaestro.
  4. Select 'Uninstall KeyMaestro'.
  5. Click Yes to confirm you want to uninstall.

Using The ACPI Power Management Button

This ACPI Power Managent button is to help you to control the system's power. Three function events (Sleep, Power off, Wake up) are included in this special unique button. Those function events are specified and performed by Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows ME operating systems. So no vendor-specified driver is needed to use them.

Power
'Sleep' event puts your system to sleep (power-saving) mode. When the Power button is pressed and hold within 4 seconds, this event will be executed.
'Power off' event closes the operating system and powers down the system. When the Power button is pressed and hold over 4 seconds, this event will be executed.
'Wake up' event wakes up your system. When the system is in sleep mode and the Power button is pressed, this event will be executed.

Using Multimedia Buttons

The multimedia buttons can be separated into two parts; one part is for surfing website and the other part is for Volume Control and CD Player. The introduction of these buttons is described below. 

All the Internet keys are reprogrammable. If you want to change the setting, click the KeyMaestro icon on the taskbar and select Configuration command. For more details, please refer to the section Configuration.

email.gif (1548 bytes) Mail To open the default program you use for mail. If more than one email programs are installed, you may select Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs -> Email to change the default setting from Internet Explorer.
favorite.gif (1329 bytes) Favorites To select a web page from your list of favorites.
 wsearch.gif (1206 bytes) Search To gain access to a number of search providers.
webhome.gif (1365 bytes) Web/Home To start your Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 and bring up the home page you set.
 wstop.gif (990 bytes) Stop If a page you are trying to view is taking too long to open, click this button.
forward.gif (1139 bytes) Forward To view the next page you viewed before.
back.gif (1147 bytes) Back To return to the last page you viewed.
Mute mutes the sound output. Repress this button to resume.
Volume Control controls the volume of your audio output to the speakers.
  Next / Fast Forward skips forward to the next file/track when pressing once quickly. If you press and hold the button, the file/track will play forward fast. Once the button is released, the file/track plays normally.
  Play/Pause starts to play the audio/video file in the current track. When the CD or Video is playing, press this button to pause it, and press the button again to resume it from the current position.

Besides of audio CD and Video CD, this driver also can play DAT, MPG, AVI, WAV, MID, and MP3 media files. If neither audio nor video disc is on the CD-ROM drive, and the Play button is pressed, a dialog box will appear to help you find and select media files to play. You may edit the playing list in the dialog box.

The Play button and the other CD control buttons are also available to use with 'WinDVD 2000' (version 2.1 or later) media application. If you have the version of WinDVD installed in your system, open it to enjoy DVD entertainment immediately. To know more about WinDVD, please visit www.intervideo.com.

  Previous / Fast Backward skips backward to the previous file/track when pressing once quickly. If you press and hold the button, the file/track will play backward fast. Once the button is released, the file/track plays normally.
  Stop stops the playing.

Commands in the Menu

If you click the KeyMaestro icon on the taskbar, a menu will pop up with the following commands.

The driver-provided CD Player and this command are only available under Windows 98.

This command is to show or hide the CD player display, and appears in the menu only when KeyMaestro is playing media files. The location of the display is available for you to move by using mouse. The red square an 'X' inside on the upper-right corner in the display can close this display window directly, instead of clicking this command.

This command is to keep the playing continuously in a loop. A word 'REPEAT' will be shown on the CD player display if this command is checked.
Same as the first command 'Show/Hide CD Player Display', this command is only available under Windows 98.

This command is to set the color of the OSD. You can select a favorite color to distinguish from the background.

This command is to change the settings for the reprogrammable keys.

In the Configuration window, you can see the reprogrammable buttons lining there. The names in the first column are the fixed button names. The names in the second column are the Button Label showing the current settings.  Click on the button you wish to reconfigure. The Button Customization dialog box will appear.

  1. Select a type for this button.

You may define the button as a string of texts which needs to be input often. The maximum characters are 3000. Taking good advantages of this function can save much your text input time and makes your works more efficient.

In many Windows application, there are many hot keys to execute some often used commands. Some of the hot keys are combined with two keys pressed simultaneously, and some are three. It is not easy to press and to remember those hot keys. Now you can define those complicated hot keys you always forgot. Any kind of combination is available. For example,
[Alt] + [F4] = close window,
[Ctrl] + [A] = select all.

If you want to attach a web page to the button, select 'Type in a web site address' and type in the URL of the page in the 'Address' field or click the Favorite button to select the web page from your favorites.

Type in the path to an often used application or click the Browse button to select any file on your computer.

Click Select button to see the list of pre-defined functions.

  1. In the Button Label box, type the name of application that the button will launch, or any name that will help you remember the function of the button. This label will appear on screen each time you press the button.

  2. Click OK.

The ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) keys are the power management keys of your keyboard, that are the Power off, Sleep, Wake up. Depending on your system compatibility in ACPI, you may decide whether the ACPI keys are enabled and performed by driver or not.

In case some errors occur or system hang due to setting conflict or other unpredictable reasons, you had better disable the ACPI keys and check the motherboard setting.

Select this command to bring up this Help file you are viewing now.

Select this command to see the information of this KeyMaestro driver, including the version number and web site which you can update the driver.

Select this command to exit from this driver program, but not to remove (uninstall). After you restart your system, the driver will be loaded again.

If you really want to remove (uninstall) the driver, please refer to the Uninstallation section above.

In case you have some troubles on installing other programs, we recommend you to exit this multimedia driver firstly in order to have a cleaner system environment.
