Instructions on Installing The Online Timer Server and Client

1.0 before getting started

Before getting started we need to determine if the minimum requirements for the functioning of this software has been met. You need a local TCP/IP supported network for the server and client software to work. This means that if you do not have registered I.P. addresses of the standard dot quad form: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on your network then you need to have at least a local TCP/IP network set up with local addresses starting with 192.168.xxx.xxx. Refer to sections 1.1 and 1.2 below to determine if your network is set up correctly to run this software.

1.1 does your current network allow internet access?

If it does then you need either a local area network preferably with a DHCP server and a gateway set up to access the internet OR two network cards set up per computer with the other network card set up with local area I.P. addresses.
The local area network would need to be set up with local area I.P. addresses starting with 192.168.xxx.xxx where "xxx" is any number between 1 to 254.

1.2 If the current network does not allow internet access the following applies:

One network card is needed per client station and I.P. addresses can be of the form: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where "xxx" is any number between 1 to 254. I.P. Addresses does not need to be restricted to the 192.168.xxx.xxx address ranges since there will be no conflicts with internet I.P. addresses.
