Navigating
Mouse
The most obvious way to navigate between layers is to select them with the mouse. Read more about this in the Basics-page.
Source Tree
The Source tree, which is positioned on the left side of your document, displays every layer in tree, in the same way as the Finder does it. You can easily see the entire group-hierarchy and rearrange the layers in any way you see fit. Notice that when you select a file in the tree that layer will immediately be selected in your document. You will learn to appreciate the Layers-tree especially if you are working on document with many layers of when you have a lot of nested Groups.
On the bottom-right of the window you can switch between list view and icon view. Icon view shows previews of your layer instead of the name. This might be incredibly useful for quickly switching between layers. Icon view is only available in DrawIt Pro.
Expose
When you have a lot of layers in a single group it can be hard to select the right one (especially if they are al placed on top of each other). Of course one could use the source tree, but this has a major disadvantage: when you've not named your layers properly, you'll end up trying to select every layer hoping you'll eventually select the right one.
Of course there must be a better way to do this: fortunately, there is! We've code-named this feature Expose because it looks a lot like what Apple did with your OS. Note that Expose is only available in the Pro Version.
To activate Expose press ⌥+ ⌘+ E.
Selecting Layers: Click on one of the layer or select multiple layer while holding down ⇧ and ←, →, ↑ or ↓.
Leaving Expose: You will automatically leave Expose when you select a layer. You can also press ⎋.
For those of you who don't want to use the mouse anymore than strictly necessary, Expose in DrawIt allows you to navigate between groups in the same way as described above: use Return to enter a group and press Escape to leave group. Again, pressing Return on a normal layer will hide Expose and the current layer will be selected.
