The basics of using FTP-Go
The FTP-Go display
The FTP-Go is built to be intuitive to use.
The display is divided into two sections. The left side
is a local file chooser while the right side is a remote file
chooser.
Connecting with a listed site
If a site has been already defined via the site management options
then it will appear in the "Lookin" combo-box list and can be clicked
on to establish connection. If you want to connect to a site on a one-off
basis then you can click the "Unlisted site" item to bring up a dialog
to enter the site details.
Switching between sites and disconnection
If you are connected to one site then clicking on another cause immediate
disconnection and reconnection to the new site. Clicked on the
"Disconnected" option will cause disconnection only.
Directory navigation
To open a directory double click it. To move up to a higher directory either
use the
button or open the combo-box and select the desired
directory.
Deleting remote directories
Remote directories can only be deleted if they are empty and FTP-Go will
show an error message if you try to delete a directory that has contents.
Anonymous FTP
When using anaonymous FTP the convention is to use a username of
"anonymous" and a password that is your email address. FTP-Go
looks for the "anonymous" username and disables such functions as
uploading.
File transfer restart
This feature has not been included in this version of FTP-Go. It may be
in later versions if it is a requested feature.
